Job summary

Sunrise Community of Iowa, Inc. is seeking caring Direct Support professionals to provide support and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our Altoona-based homes.

You will help create a positive home environment and assist with daily activities. Requirements include a valid driver's license with endorsements, a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and at least one year in human services; supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid Driver's License with endorsements.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years driving experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• 1 year in human services preferred.
• 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report any suspected abuse or rights violations.
• Ensure health, safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
• Supervise and maintain a trained team providing care and oversight.
• Provide training and feedback to staff through positive interactions and mentoring.
• Ensure implementation of therapy, training and data collection per plans and regulatory agencies.
• Maintain a positive, person-centered home environment with creative activities.
• Monitor compliance with agency directives, licensing standards, and policies.
• Maintain homes, outside areas and vehicles.

Employees are required to communicate, both orally and in writing, with staff and others regarding medical care, supports, and services.
