Job summary

FSDB is seeking a Residential Instructor to work in the Boarding Program, supporting deaf and blind students in daily living and recreation activities. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and positive student development on campus.

The incumbent will follow dorm policies, collaborate with staff and families, and participate in required trainings to maintain a constructive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of effective communication principles and techniques.
• Ability to instruct deaf and/or blind persons in social and daily living skills.
• Ability to visually monitor and track assigned students.
• Ability to ensure health and sanitary conditions are maintained.
• Ability to encourage independence and self-development in others.
• Ability to plan, instruct and conduct leisure and recreational activities.
• Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
• Ability to work cooperatively with all team members.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor student behavior and document outcomes.
• Communicate with students, parents, and staff professionally.
• Follow Boarding Program policies and safety procedures.
• Use Individual Dorm Plans to support social and daily living skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean dorm environment and assist with incident reporting.
