Job summary

Better Community Living Inc. is seeking a dedicated direct-support professional in New Bedford, MA to assist individuals with daily living, independence, and community integration. The role emphasizes person-centered planning and collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities include implementing ISP plans, medication support, data recording, and attending trainings, with a weekend shift option and a starting hourly wage of $18.24–$19.74, depending on MAP certification.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • Must have 3+ years of driving with a valid US license.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and document clearly.
  • Must pass CORI check, Drug Test, and Driving Record Check.
  • Completion of First Aid, CPR, Human Rights, Safety Care and MAP within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to the daily needs of consumers and encourage independence.
  • Teach socialization, daily living skills, meal planning, budgeting, transportation and community resources.
  • Record and use data, daily progress notes, logs and required ISP documentation.
  • Supervise and document self-administration of medications and administer meds as prescribed.
  • Attend all staff trainings and meetings as scheduled.

Description Additional $1.50 per hour on the weekends (Saturday & Sunday)

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend to the daily needs of consumers on an individual basis as well as foster increased independence and self-determination.
  • Teach socialization skills and activities of daily living including household maintenance; self-care and hygiene; self-awareness and human development; menu planning, food shopping and preparation; money management skills/budgeting; transportation and community orientation; consumer skills; and utilization of community resources.
  • Record and appropriately utilize necessary data, daily progress notes, staff log and complete all other ISP and program required documentation.
  • Supervise and document self-administration of consumer medications as well as administer and document consumer medications as prescribed by a physician in accordance with agency and program procedures.
  • Required to attend all staff training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
Working Conditions
  • Physical activities include but not limited to climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, etc.
  • Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally.
  • Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
  • The worker is subject to hazards such as moving parts, moving vehicles, etc.
Qualifications Required
  • High School/GED.
  • All Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have had a current US drivers license for 3 years.
  • Time management and writing skills.
  • Successful applicants must be able to successfully pass a CORI check, Drug Test, and a Driving Record Check.
  • All applicants must be able to become First Aid, CPR, Human Rights, Safety Care, and MAP certified within 30 days of Employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 Months Experience In Human services.

Salary: $18.24 per hour or as outlined in Collective Bargaining Agreement without MAP certification, $19.74 with MAP certification.
