The Service Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the management, administration, growth, and profitability of the Service Department, including responsibility for the applicable sections of the corporate strategic plan.

Key qualities and skills: initiative, decisiveness, tact, integrity, judgment, leadership skills, and technical knowledge. The role involves contact with diverse demographic groups, primarily with Controlling Systems employees and departmental customers.

Representative duties include:

  1. Planning, organizing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of the Service Department.
  2. Training employees in servicing procedures and promoting the customer satisfaction philosophy.
  3. Scheduling jobs based on complexity and technician ability.
  4. Collaborating with the Accountant and General Manager on collections and credit management.
  5. Supporting corporate goals in partnership with other department managers and leadership.
  6. Resolving customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
  7. Working with suppliers on parts performance, pricing, and availability.
  8. Providing annual performance appraisals for staff.
  9. Managing equipment, tools, vehicles, and parts.
  10. Maintaining administrative records and controls, including invoicing.
  11. Implementing quality control procedures to ensure customer satisfaction and departmental efficiency.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of HVACR experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Negotiation skills with suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of HVAC marketing and sales.
  • Physical ability to visit technicians and customers on-site.
  • Ability to sell service jobs, contracts, and bids.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Proficiency with software and technology.
