Job summary

Great Lakes Heating & Air Conditioning in South Bend, IN is hiring a full-time Residential HVAC Installation Technician. You will remove and replace furnaces and air conditioners, install water heaters, and keep jobsites organized and efficient.

Expect a schedule of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with overtime and on-call opportunities. A take-home vehicle and growth opportunities are included as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Familiar with basic hand tools.
• Familiar with using an iPad.
• Ability to use a 2-wheeled dolly/handcart.
• Physical ability to lift and carry heavy items.
• Willingness to travel to homes in Michigan and Indiana service areas (approx. 70 minutes from South Bend).
• 5+ years of residential HVAC experience is a plus.
• EPA Type II Certified preferred.

Responsibilities

• Remove and replace residential furnaces and air conditioners.
• Complete water heater installations.
• Keep worksites organized and efficient.
• Tear down old equipment for recycling during slower seasons; assist with other construction-type projects.
• Help prepare tools, materials, and systems for the next busy cycle.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A RESIDENTIAL HVAC INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN

• Valid driver's license
• Familiar with basic hand tools
• Familiar with using an iPad
• Ability to use a 2-wheeled dolly/handcart
• Physical ability to properly and safely lift and carry heavy items such as furnaces and air conditioners with assistance
• Ability to travel to homes throughout our Michigan and Indiana service areas (70-minute drive from our South Bend address)
• 5+ years of experience in the Residential HVAC field is a plus
• EPA Type II Certified is preferred

We welcome both entry-level candidates with no experience and experienced professionals with 5 or more years of experience who are motivated to learn, adapt, and grow.

YOUR ROLE AS OUR RESIDENTIAL HVAC INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN

You report to the shop at 7:30 a.m. before heading out for the day. Your regular schedule runs 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the workday wrapping up once scheduled jobs are complete and opportunities for overtime, evening, and on-call work are available.

You remove and replace residential furnaces and air conditioners, complete water heater installations, and keep worksites organized and efficient. During slower seasons, you tear down old equipment for recycling, assist with other construction-style projects, and help prepare tools, materials, and systems for the next busy cycle. Every day keeps you hands-on, productive, and moving forward.

Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record and the ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
