General Job Description

Job Summary: The Service/Warranty Technician is responsible for completing residential electrical work on homes before and after homeowners move in, ensuring all electrical systems are properly functioning in the new home.

Responsibilities
Warranty Calls
  • Ensure timeliness of calls regarding homeowners’ schedule.
  • Diagnose and repair homeowners’ electrical issues.
  • Leave each home clean of all debris and material from warranty calls.
  • Handle dissatisfied homeowners and deescalate frustration.
Hot Checks
  • Accurately complete “Hot Checks” before final inspection and homeowner closing.
  • Have knowledge of energizing and deenergizing homes.
  • Confirm all equipment is properly installed and functional.
  • Troubleshoot faulty equipment, circuits, and breakers.
  • Communicate with the service manager and supervisor regarding issues arising during “Hot Checks”.
  • Ensure the home is left in “move‑in” condition.
Punch Lists
  • Complete punch lists, identifying issues during walk‑throughs.
  • Troubleshoot and read blueprints / floor plans.
  • Apply National Electric Code (NEC) knowledge.
  • Communicate with the manager regarding any issues arising.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Residential electrical trade knowledge across all aspects.
  • Read prints and scale to ensure proper fixture, receptacle, and switch placement.
  • Own standard residential electrical tools.
  • Excellent time‑management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Specialty tool knowledge—e.g., jack hammer, generator, multimeter, toner.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Read paperwork and fill out necessary information.
Education and Experience
  • Previous experience in all phases of residential electrical.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Electrical safety knowledge (Lock Out, Tag Out).
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to pull wires and cables through conduits.
  • Capability to work in hot and confined spaces (attic work).
  • Use of hand and power tools for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Available for On‑Call rotation with other service employees.
  • Drive for extended periods to reach service locations.
  • Operate company van safely in various weather and road conditions.
