Summary of Position:

The Waste Pro Residential Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling. Oversees helpers on the route, performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks, and performs related duties as assigned. Work is supervised, with performance reviewed during and after routes through observation and discussion of issues.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Safely drives the truck on pre-established routes following Decision Driving principles, collecting and dumping refuse into trucks, and unloading at landfills or transfer stations.
  2. Provides high-quality, courteous customer service, exhibiting a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals.
  3. Picks up and transfers garbage and recyclables properly; handles improper refuse containers and waste tags.
  4. Performs daily vehicle inspections per company and DOT guidelines, including checking under the hood, undercarriage, fluid levels, and tires.
  5. Maintains cleanliness of the truck, washes exterior weekly, and inspects the vehicle regularly.
  6. Performs manual clean-up duties and moves/empties large trash bins using hydraulics.
  7. Prepares and submits required reports and documents.
  8. Responsible for all personnel working on the vehicle during routes.
  9. Complies with all DOT and state requirements for commercial vehicle operators.
  10. May be required to work during emergency situations.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Attend and participate in training courses as assigned.
  • Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Work Environment:

Works in various conditions, including extreme temperatures, weather, noise, vibrations, fumes, odors, and dust.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Understanding of refuse collection policies, DOT, and state requirements.
  • Normal hearing and vision, with or without correction.
  • Ability to operate various refuse trucks and heavy equipment controls.
  • Ability to follow routes and instructions, maintain records, and communicate effectively in English.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to push/pull 50 pounds frequently.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds independently.
  • Capable of getting in and out of trucks repeatedly.
  • Able to bend repeatedly and work 8-12 hours in various weather conditions.
