Residential Dispatcher

Summary of Position:
The purpose of the Dispatcher position is to communicate with Waste Pro drivers to respond to incoming service orders, schedule service, resolve route and service issues, and complete daily routing dump and crew data entry. Distribute information to driver teams as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Maintain contact between drivers and home base, dispatching drivers to calls as they are received, using information on customer needs, drivers' locations and loads, and daily factors to balance cost and speed of response.
  2. Assign routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day; close service tickets each day.
  3. Plan, distribute, monitor, and follow-up on daily route assignments for residential, roll-off, and commercial drivers to ensure customer service standards are met.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pickup problems before they result in service issues. Communicate effectively with drivers and customers to ensure satisfaction. Inform Sales staff of service changes.
  5. Answer incoming calls from Customer Service and provide requested route information or follow-up. Collaborate with Customer Service Manager, Operations Manager, and Drivers to ensure prompt issue resolution. Distribute county requests to route supervisors.
  6. Communicate with maintenance personnel and serve as an emergency contact for drivers.
  7. Review route paperwork, update customer information in the database, and close work orders from previous routes, paying attention to detail and correcting issues. Record and distribute driver information to relevant departments.
  8. Maintain data in systems such as Tower and Trackese, including verifying dump tickets, closing tickets, and entering driver, truck, and route data.
  9. Print, review, and correct productivity reports for route supervisors daily.
  10. Manage driver phones/radios, including software updates and charging routines.
  11. Additional duties may include tracking uniforms, reviewing drivers' timecards, reconciling fuel tickets, maintaining PPE inventory, and preparing Saturday work.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in company-sponsored training courses.
  • Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro USA.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Work Environment: Office setting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D, with at least 6 months of related experience.
  • Experience in waste industry, transportation, or logistics preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a call center preferred.
  • Good telephone and radio skills, professional communication.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and typing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, resolve problems promptly, and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Use of motor coordination and finger dexterity for keyboarding and machine operation.
  • Light physical effort, including lifting less than 25 pounds rarely.
