Looking for a full-time caregiving role with a consistent 3-day workweek and paid training?

Appalachian Community Services is hiring a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Murphy, NC area to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their behavioral health needs.

This role is a strong fit for experienced caregivers, DSPs, CNAs, HHAs, PCAs, home health workers, and other direct care professionals looking to continue their work in a meaningful, person-centered setting. It is also a great opportunity for dependable people who want to transition into caregiving and receive training and support.

What You’ll Do

As a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will:

  • Provide daily, individualized care focused on client safety, health, and well-being
  • Assist with personal care, including hygiene, grooming, feeding, and mobility
  • Help with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and routine support
  • Follow each client’s Person Centered Plan (PCP) and behavior support plan
  • Support clients in building independence, daily living skills, and social skills
  • Transport clients to appointments, shopping, and community outings
  • Complete daily documentation and incident reports accurately and on time
  • Respond to crisis situations and emergencies with professionalism and empathy
  • Support clients with communication needs, including adaptive communication tools when needed
  • Additional duties as required to meet client needs

  • Ability to work scheduled 12-hour shifts

Experience in direct care, caregiving, home health, behavioral health, or related support roles is helpful, but not required. Training is provided.
