Job summary

Valley Hope of Moundridge in Kansas is seeking an experienced Residential Counselor/Therapist (LMAC, LCAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW) to join our clinical team. The position runs Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with an average caseload of 10 patients and on-site work in a residential treatment setting.

You will provide individual and group counseling, develop treatment plans, participate in a multi-disciplinary team, and maintain patient records.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in behavioral sciences, education or social work.
• License or credential to function as counselor/social worker/therapist in the state (LMAC, LCAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LCPC).
• One (1) year of behavioral healthcare clinical counseling or clinical case management work experience.
• CPR certification; or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual and group counseling to patients and family members.
• Develops, revises, and implements treatment plans.
• Performs face to face assessments.
• Participates on a multi-disciplinary treatment team and attends weekly meetings.
• Develops patient progress reports and follow-up care for patients and families.
• Provides clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members and others to support recovery.
• Maintains current knowledge of counseling procedures and substance abuse treatment per policy and guidelines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s degree in behavioral sciences, education or social work.
• License or credential to function as a counselor, social worker, therapist, or psychotherapist in the state in which the Counselor is working. Applicants with the following credentials will be considered: LMAC, LCAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LCPC.

COMPENSATION:

• Starting annual salary range: $70,000 - $81,000 (based on education and experience)

JOB SUMMARY:

• Provides individual and group counseling, therapeutic intervention, and educational lectures to patients and family members.
• Develops, revises, and implements treatment plans.
• Performs face to face assessments.
• Participates on a multi-disciplinary treatment team to include participating in weekly staff meetings, any staff development, and training as required.
• Develops patient progress reports and establishes follow-up care for patients and their families as needed.
• Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members, and others to help support patients in their recovery.
• Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable counseling procedures and substance abuse treatment in accordance with company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
• Collects and reviews referral information upon assignment of patients and consults with others as needed to support coordination of services.
• Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Residential treatment facility setting; requires walking throughout the facility.
• Direct contact with patients.
• Sitting for extended periods of time; regularly talking to and listening to others.
• Able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours).
• Traditional work hours with the need to work evenings, nights, or weekends based on the need of the facility to provide patient care.
• Able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
