Job summary

Cayuga Health System is seeking a Residential Counselor for Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Men's Residence on a Per Diem schedule at the Trumansburg campus. You will help maintain a safe, supportive milieu and support admissions, orientations, and daily operations of the residential program.

Required: high school diploma and at least one year of relevant experience; strong interpersonal and crisis-intervention skills; ability to document and communicate via computer.

Qualifications

• High School degree and one-year relevant experience.
• A basic understanding of addiction and recovery issues.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in SUD, human services, or related field; CASAC-T or working towards CASAC-T certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admissions and discharge process; ensure safety checks for new admissions and proper orientation.
• Maintain a safe community; enforce program rules with empathy and document daily activities.
• Maintain milieu structure; be present in the community and reinforce positive behavior.
• Teach social skills; model pro-social decision making and remain calm when interacting with clients.
• Demonstrate professionalism and be a strong team member prioritizing collective needs.
