CHR is seeking a Residential Counselor at Mills House, Windsor, CT to support five boys aged 14-21 in a 24-hour staffed group home focused on skill-building and community integration.

Evening and weekend shifts are required; starting pay is $19 per hour with room for growth based on experience and internal equity policies.

Qualifications

About the Program

Mills House is a community-based group home with 24‑hour staffing and a built‑in therapeutic component for 5 boys aged 14‑21 who have experienced serious emotional and behavioral problems. The program emphasizes maximizing each boy's ability to develop skills for living successfully outside of an institutional setting through participation in normative community activities.

About the Position

Residential Counselor

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintains physical environment and program standards set by funders, accreditors, and agency policies.
• Monitors self‑administration of client medications in accordance with agency medication policies and procedures as required by the program.
• Utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to collaborate with co‑workers and clients.
• Teaches and assists residents in developmentally appropriate activities of daily living.
• Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor.
• Prepares and facilitates educational and skill‑building groups and one‑to‑one interventions as directed by the treatment plan.
• Collaborates and coordinates care with providers and families as needed.
• Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.
• Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
• Participates in staff meetings, supervision, training, and other meetings as assigned.
• Assists with additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED required.

Experience: Two years’ experience working with a relevant population preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Valid driver’s license required with a good driving record.

Compensation

Starting at $19.00/hr min., and up commensurate upon experience. Rates are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience, internal equity policy. Sign‑on incentives and location differentials may apply.
