Job Title: Residential Counselor II | Holyoke ERP

Job Summary:

The Residential Counselor II role builds upon the Residential Counselor I position, with increased leadership responsibilities. The staff is expected to fulfill all Residential Counselor I expectations and take on additional leadership duties. The role involves maintaining a therapeutic environment within the residence, ensuring the safety, medical needs, emotional support, and daily living needs of clients are met. The counselor will also participate in developing and implementing reasonable limits and structure for each child, both within the residence and the community, in a fair and consistent manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a shift in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Support youth treatment plans during shifts.
  • Accurately document all required information.
  • Act as a “Staff Advocate” for clients.
  • Respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Respect and value each individual's culture.
  • Promote trauma-informed practices during shifts.
  • Provide crisis intervention as trained.
  • Immediately notify the Program Manager of client crises, suspected illegal activities, or incidents.
  • Assist clients with daily activities such as shopping, meal preparation, housekeeping, banking, and appointments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a human services field.
  • At least one year of experience working with youth.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Meet agency requirements for driving history.
  • Availability of a vehicle to transport clients or support services.
