Job summary

Three Rivers Midlands is seeking a dynamic Full-time Residential Counselor for night shift (11:00pm – 7:30am) with rotating weekends. The role supports children and adolescents (ages 6-21) in a residential behavioral health setting, working with a treatment team to implement master treatment plans and maintain therapeutic boundaries.

Candidates should hold a high school diploma; a bachelor's in psychology is preferred and direct care experience with youth is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred in psychology or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of direct care experience with adolescents and children in residential/educational settings
  • Valid SC driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Work with residential and clinical treatment teams to carry out the MTP and program schedule
  • Assist nurses in psychiatric and physical care of residents and maintain boundaries
  • Engage residents therapeutically and support activities and events throughout the day

Three Rivers Midlands is a comprehensive behavioral health facility treating children and adolescents through residential and Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services (RBH). We treat males and females ages 6-21 for a wide spectrum of psychiatric issues, addictive behaviors, and chemical dependency related illnesses.

Responsibilities

The Residential Counselor Key Responsibilities include:

The Residential Counselor (RC) works closely with all members of the residential and clinical treatment team. Plays an integral part of assuring that the resident program schedule and resident master treatment plan (MTP) are carried out as planned by the Team. Performs various duties assisting nurses in the psychiatric and physical treatment and care of residents in accordance with established methods and procedures of the facility. Interacts closely with residents remaining engaged in the various activities and events that residents experience throughout the treatment day. Interacts with residents in a therapeutic manner at all times and assists other staff to also maintain appropriate boundaries.

Full Time Night Position, 11:00pm – 7:30am with rotating weekends. Full-time RCs are assigned (01) one Mandatory Stay shift per week.

Qualifications
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma required but strongly prefer a Bachelors degree in psychology or a related field with a minimum of 1 year of direct care experience working with adolescents and children in a Residential Treatment Facility, educational or juvenile setting.
  • Valid SC Drivers License preferred
  • Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, adolescent growth and development, limit-setting and behavior management
