Three Rivers Midlands seeks a dynamic PRN & Part Time Residential Counselor to support children and adolescents (ages 6–21) across residential, partial hospitalization and RBH services. This role emphasizes compassionate care in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities include role modeling, maintaining a safe environment, contributing to treatment plans, and guiding daily living activities while applying de-escalation techniques when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in psychology or related field with 1 year direct care in residential/educational/juvenile setting.
• High School Diploma with 1–3 years direct care with adolescents in similar settings.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of therapeutic relationships, growth and behavior management, CPI, CPR, de-escalation

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as necessary.
• Observe and model socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors.
• Maintain safety and positive norms throughout the facility.
• Contribute to resident treatment plan formulation and updates.
• Support residents' daily living skills through tasks and supervision.

Three Rivers Midlands is seeking a dynamic and talented PRN & Part Time, Residential Counselor. Three Rivers Midlands is a comprehensive behavioral health facility treating children and adolescents through residential, partial hospitalization and Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services (RBH). We treat males and females ages 6-21 for a wide spectrum of psychiatric issues, addictive behaviors, and chemical dependency related illnesses. http://threeriversmidlands.org

Key Responsibilities

• Residential Counselor position requires every other weekend shift rotations
• Serves as a role model for residents to observe and learn socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors.
• Ensures environment remains safe and normative culture remains positive throughout facility.
• Contributes to formulation, implementation and revision of the resident individual treatment plan (ITP).
• Promotes development of residents' daily living skills through appropriate assignment, instruction, and supervision of tasks.
• Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns, following proper restraint technique guidelines, and displaying neutral emotions
• Ensures optimal communication by relaying pertinent resident care information for change of shift report, team logs, communication books and complex staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Position Requirements: “Strongly prefer a Bachelors degree in psychology or a related field with a minimum of 1 year of direct care experience working with adolescents and children in a Residential Treatment Facility, educational or juvenile setting. OR A High School Diploma with a minimum of 1-3 years direct care experience with adolescents and children in a Residential Treatment Facility, educational/juvenile setting. Requires valid Drivers License Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, adolescent growth and development, limit-setting and behavior management, CPI, CPR and Verbal De escalation”
