Job summary

Greater Lakes Mental Health is seeking a Residential Counselor to support adults in BHN residential programs, helping them develop recovery skills and independence. The role focuses on planning for work, school, volunteering, and community connections to support sustained recovery.

You will conduct individual and group counseling, create treatment and discharge plans, and assist residents in building daily living skills such as cooking and budgeting, under supervision.

Qualifications

• AA degree in social services or related field preferred.
• One year of experience with mentally ill adults in residential settings.
• BLS, Food Handler's and First Aid cards required within 14 days.
• ACCR credential must be applied for within 30 days of hire.
• Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.

Position Summary

Residential Counselors assist adults in BHN residential programs to develop their skills for recovery and wellness. Focuses on helping residents attain or resume their capacity for independent living, providing hope and motivation, as residents heal and develop resiliency. Responsibilities:

• Provides counseling to help residents re-establish self-identity, sense of purpose and meaning in their lives, which may include developing plans for work, school, and/or volunteering, and making community connections.
• Helps residents develop life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, money management, social skills and knowledge of symptoms and medications.
• Creates treatment plans and discharge planning documents and delivers/reviews with residents
• Conducts i ndividual and group counseling sessions

Requirements

• AA degree in social services or related field preferred
• One (1) year of experience working with mentally ill consumers in a residential setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• BLS - Basic Life Suppor t (includes RQI), Food Handler's, & First Aid cards will be required within 14-days of hire
• Washington State Counselor Agency Affiliated Registered (ACCR) credential must be applied for within thirty (30) days of hire. Employees can work while in pending status. Grace periods will be adjusted in accordance with DOH requirements.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $18.94 - $27.26 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
