Job summary

Burnett Specialists Staffing | Recruiting is seeking an organized Assistant Procurement professional to support purchasing for residential construction projects in Texas. This role works with the Procurement/Purchasing Manager, construction teams, vendors, and trade partners to ensure timely, cost-effective material sourcing.

Responsibilities include handling bids, creating purchase orders, tracking pricing and deliveries, and maintaining vendor records.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of purchasing, procurement, estimating, or construction-related experience preferred.
• Residential construction or homebuilding experience strongly preferred.
• Understanding of construction materials, vendors, subcontractors, and purchasing processes is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and Office; experience with residential construction software is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with purchasing and procurement for residential construction projects.
• Request and organize vendor and subcontractor bids.
• Compare pricing, prepare bid comparisons, and assist with vendor selection.
• Create and maintain purchase orders, pricing, scopes of work, and vendor information.
• Communicate with vendors and trade partners regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and deliveries.
• Assist with material takeoffs, estimates, budgets, and cost tracking.
• Research new vendors, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Track outstanding purchase orders and help resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain purchasing records, contracts, bids, and documentation.
• Coordinate with construction, estimating, design, and project management teams.
• Assist with vendor onboarding and insurance/compliance documentation.
• Support change orders and purchasing adjustments throughout the construction process.
• Help ensure materials and services are purchased according to schedules.
• Provide general administrative and project support to the Procurement/Purchasing department.
