Job summary

Renowned Recruitment Group seeks an experienced Estimator for a premier design-build firm in the Bay Area. You will prepare conceptual budgets, detailed construction estimates and cost analyses for luxury residential projects.

Collaborating with design, preconstruction, project management and field teams, you will identify risks, value-engineer opportunities and ensure estimates align with client expectations and project goals.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience.
• High-end residential, custom-home or luxury-remodeling experience preferred.
• Strong quantity takeoff and cost-analysis skills.
• Knowledge of residential construction methods, materials and sequencing.
• Experience evaluating subcontractor bids and identifying scope gaps.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency with estimating, takeoff and construction-management software.
• Excellent communication and vendor-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet bid deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual budgets, preliminary estimates and detailed construction estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings.
• Analyze plans, specifications and design documents for scope and completeness.
• Develop labor, material, equipment and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks and value-engineering opportunities.
• Maintain accurate pricing, historical cost data and estimating documentation.
• Prepare bid comparisons, cost summaries and client-facing budget presentations.
• Collaborate with designers and project managers as project details evolve.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and design reviews.
• Evaluate alternative materials, systems and construction methods.
• Support contract development and project handoff to production teams.
• Track estimate-versus-actual results to improve future pricing.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

An established high-end residential design-build firm is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, detailed budgets for custom homes and major renovation projects throughout the Bay Area.

This position will collaborate closely with design, preconstruction, project-management and field teams to develop reliable pricing and identify potential cost, scope and constructability issues before construction begins.
