Job summary

The Guild for Human Services in Waltham, MA is seeking a dedicated Residential Support staff member to assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive residential program for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

You will help maintain a safe living environment, support ISP/IEP development, transport individuals, and administer medications under MAP guidelines, while engaging in crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associates preferred; High School Diploma required.
  • Background record check process.
  • Valid driver license.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of a team to maintain a clean, safe, positive living environment for each individual who lives at the residence, including completing laundry and cleaning assignments.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of each individual’s residential ISP/IEP and daily activity schedule.
  • Attend and support individuals participating in all community experiences.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and individual behavior support plans for individuals who live in the home.
  • Assist in record keeping and report writing, as assigned.
  • Provide supervision of all individuals while under his/her care.
  • Administer and record individuals’ medications, in compliance with MAP.
  • Able to transport individuals to various locations.
  • Provide direct supervision and care to individuals, including 1:1 responsibilities at all times and locations.
  • Participate in any meetings pertaining to assigned individuals or program planning, as directed.
  • Engage in de-escalation of individuals.

Summary:

To assist the Residential Manager (or Lead/Assistant Residential Manager) in the development and implementation of a comprehensive residential program for each of their assigned individuals

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job including inclement weather
  • Demonstrated evidence of mature judgment, good interpersonal skills, a desire to enrich individuals' lives and a willingness to learn
  • Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and de‑escalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is an essential function of the job
  • Pass Guild Driving test to access Guild vehicles for transportations of individuals
  • Must be able to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (via certification through CPI)
  • The ability to assist individuals in evacuation from the residence
Requirements
  • Associates preferred, High School Diploma required
  • Undergo background record check process
  • Valid driver's license
