Job Description

The Waste Pro Automated Side Load Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling. Responsibilities include overseeing helpers, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and other related duties.

Essential Job Functions

1. Safely drive the truck on established routes, collecting and dumping refuse, and unloading at landfills or transfer stations.
2. Provide courteous and efficient customer service, ensuring a high level of service.
3. Maintain a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals.
4. Ensure proper collection and transfer of refuse and recyclables; tag improper containers as needed.
5. Perform daily safety inspections and complete required safety documentation.
6. Keep the truck clean and perform regular maintenance checks.
7. Assist in cleanup duties and operate hydraulics to move large trash bins.
8. Complete and submit required reports and documentation.
9. Supervise persons working on the vehicle during routes.
10. Comply with all Department of Transportation and state requirements for commercial vehicle operators.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
• At least 21 years old.
• Knowledge of refuse collection policies, procedures, and DOT regulations.
• Normal hearing and vision, with the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and bending.
• Ability to operate refuse trucks and heavy equipment safely.
• Good communication skills in English.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Able to lift and push 50 pounds frequently.
• Capable of working 8-12 hours in various weather conditions.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend training sessions as required.
• Stay current with technology and procedures.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
