Job summary

Alcott is seeking a Residential Aide for swing shift to support residents in the ODR Interim Housing program in Culver City, CA. The role focuses on safety, daily routines, and recovery-oriented care for adults facing housing insecurity and behavioral health challenges.

The position requires at least one year of relevant experience, strong communication, basic computer skills, and a CA driver’s license. It is full-time, on-site, with Sunday–Thursday 3:00 pm–11:30 pm and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in mental health, substance use, or homelessness services.
• Lived experience is encouraged.
• If in recovery, at least one (1) year of continuous sobriety required.

Responsibilities

• Support residents' safety, daily routines, and overall experience in the program.

Location: South Los Angeles

What You’ll Do: The Impact You’ll Make

As a Residential Aide, you’ll play a key role in supporting residents’ safety, daily routines, and overall experience in the program. You’ll be a calming and consistent presence, promoting respect, stability, and recovery for individuals facing housing insecurity and behavioral health challenges.

Resident Support & Facility Care

• Respond promptly and professionally to resident requests and needs
• Support residents in maintaining independence and engagement in daily routines
• Assist with meal prep, serving, and group activities as needed
• Encourage and model appropriate behavior in shared living environments

Monitoring, Safety & Documentation

• Conduct regular safety rounds and monitor resident behavior
• Respond to emergencies according to protocols
• Maintain cleanliness of shared areas including hallways, restrooms, and laundry rooms
• Complete shift documentation, incident reports, and daily logs accurately and on time

Program Operations & Teamwork

• Answer phones, take messages, and greet visitors
• Assist with scheduled activities, medication observation, and meetings
• Communicate clearly with other team members and provide thorough shift handoffs
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager

What You’ll Bring: Your Qualifications

Required

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in mental health, substance use, or homeless services
• Candidates with lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply
• If in recovery, at least one (1) year of continuous sobriety required

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during conflict or crises
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with documentation systems
• Valid California Driver’s License, clean driving record, and insurability under agency policy
• Must pass Live Scan background check

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and current CPR certification
• Experience supporting high-needs populations in a residential setting
• Organized, reliable, and committed to team-based care
