Job summary

Qualifications

  • HS diploma/ GED required, some college preferred.
  • One year of experience as a security guard or counselor preferred.

Act as escort for residents. Screen calls and visitors. Monitor the self administration of medication. Complete incident reports in AWARDS Prepare the following as needed: laundry schedule, census update, case assignments, roll call sheet, and client probation list. Help maintain transition and facilities logs. Monitor roll call sheet. Wake clients in the morning. Make periodic inspections of clients’ rooms. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned.

Hours

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

  • Friday-Tuesday 11:30pm-8am

Qualifications

HS diploma/ GED required, some college preferred. One year of experience was a security guard or counselor for the mentally ill preferred. Bilingual, Spanish/ English preferred. Valid drivers’ license preferred. Basic computer literacy required. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.

  • Vaccination preferred but not required.

Program Description

BRC's Casa de Los Vecinos is a transitional community residence targeting formerly homeless clients who are either mentally ill or dually diagnosed as mentally ill and chemically addicted. Funded and licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health with additional funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Casa de Los Vecinos is located on Manhattan's Lower East Side and has a capacity of 32 beds. The mission of the program is to provide a safe and supportive environment where residents take part in rehabilitation interventions that will assist them in the attainment of their work, social and community living goals. A variety of services are available, including case management, substance abuse groups, medication monitoring, daily skills training and recreational activities.
