We are seeking Residential Aides for our Transitional Housing shelter located in Brooklyn. The Residential Aide will be the primary connection between the operations staff and the clients. The residential aide will spend a large amount of time with the residents, helping clients who need more hands-on assistance, providing insight to the current atmosphere in the facility, and addressing client complaints or recommendations.

Salary: $16-$21/HR
Responsibilities consist of but are not limited to:
  • Perform daily room and bed inspections.
  • Pack up and log items for AWOL residents.
  • Escort clients to appointments.
  • Assist in the monitoring and development of residents' independent living skills.
  • Monitor and track furniture.
  • Perform nightly bed counts.
  • Fill in for kitchen staff when necessary.
  • Conflict resolution between residents.
  • Cover operations desk when necessary.
  • Answer phones when necessary.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the building.
  • Monitor common areas to ensure proper usage.
Education/License:
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Food handlers certificate a plus.
Qualifications:
  • 2 years of applicable experience in shelter or residential setting.
  • Passion for working with individuals and families who are in transitional housing.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with others.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare and submit all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.
  • Must be able to multitask with strong organizational skills.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
