Job summary

ServingSchools is seeking a Residential Advisor in Maine to supervise dormitory life for Job Corps trainees and support their progress toward performance goals. The role involves behavior management, mentoring, and documenting daily observations within center policies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports and logs documenting daily progress, behavior and notes.
• Annotate records to reflect student performance, incidents and communications.
• Lead life skills groups on budgeting, renter’s rights, leases and chores.
• Facilitate small group discussions on life skills, peer mediation and conflict resolution.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Residential Advisor provides safe, supportive and predictable environment in dormitory supervision of Job Corps trainees in their daily activities, monitoring their progress in attaining performance contract goals and objectives and utilizing behavior management and intentional and consistent Core Value driven practices. Conducts dormitory operations in accordance to Center operating policy and procedures and in accordance with CSD Operating Procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification and acting as a mentor.
• Provides daily supervision or assistance in monitoring students in personal hygiene, room/chore assignments, special recreation activities, cafeteria monitoring, transportation, and programmed activities.
• Provides informal counseling related to stress management, personal problems, emergency or home situations, etc., with students, and provides insight into responsible behavior and attitudes.
• Prepares reports and forms and annotates logs to ensure accurate documentation of daily observations of student's progress, performance, behavior and attitudes, staff breaks, emergency information, communication information, references to critical information contained in folders.
• Facilitates groups in life skills including budgeting, renter’s rights, completing a lease, completing chores, etc.
• Facilitates small group discussions in life skills, peer mediation, conflict resolution, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Shift Hours : Wednesday 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) Thursday & Friday 2:30 AM to 11:30 PM Saturday 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) Sunday 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) Off Monday & Tuesday
