Job summary

Resurgence Recovery is seeking a compassionate Addiction Counselor/Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join a multidisciplinary treatment team in a licensed residential setting.

The role centers on evidence-based counseling, individualized treatment planning, and ongoing documentation in compliance with LDH, CARF, and privacy regulations. Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team is essential to support long-term recovery for clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of counseling experience in substance use disorders.
• Must possess a Louisiana-recognized credential: LAC, RAC, or CAC license.
• Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and evidence-based treatment practices.
• Strong understanding of motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, recovery planning, and trauma-informed care.
• Excellent written documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Must complete all pre-employment screenings per Louisiana Department of Health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments and assist in developing individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based interventions.
• Develop measurable treatment goals and update plans as clinically needed.
• Complete timely documentation meeting LDH, CARF, and organizational standards.
• Maintain client records in line with confidentiality regulations (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2).
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
• Educate clients on relapse prevention, coping strategies, and community resources.
• Monitor progress and recommend levels of care and discharge planning.
• Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to credentialing standards.
• Complete annual competency training and required compliance education.
• Perform other duties to support quality patient care and program operations.
