Job summary

Balboa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in San Diego, CA is seeking a Driver-Transportation (Maintenance) to assist residents with loading and unloading from facility vehicles and transport them to medical appointments and activities.

You will maintain the interior and exterior of vehicles, log maintenance, and be flexible with shifts. The role requires a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to lift up to 70 pounds. CNA training is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum age 25 years old.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Familiar with GPS and local driving area.
• No traffic crimes in the last 7 years; background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with loading and unloading from facility approved vehicles.
• Transport residents to scheduled medical appointments or other approved activities.
• Maintain interior and exterior of facility vehicles to promote safe transport and positive image.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance logs and arrange for regular maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.).
• Be flexible with work time and able to respond to delays in appointments or activities.
• Demonstrate safe transfer techniques for residents and assist with wheelchair transfers.
• Lift and mobilize patient weights up to 70 pounds as needed.
• Make complex decisions involving highly dependent patients when necessary.
