The AUSL Teacher Residency Resident Teacher position is a one-year training position that provides a training stipend, financial aid, and reduced tuition cost to become a full-time teacher. This position is for career changers or recent graduates that are looking for an accessible opportunity to become a full-time teacher in Chicago and surrounding areas, including Lyons, Maywood, and Dolton, IL.

Over 25 years, AUSL has prepared 1,690 resident teachers through a proven cohort model, graduate-level coursework, and in-classroom experience alongside mentor teachers.

Scholarship and Financial Aid:

• AUSL provides resident teachers with a $22,100 resident teacher scholarship that is paid directly to you. You can choose to use this living allowance to pay for tuition costs or to cover living costs you will incur throughout your training year.
• Additional grants such as the TEACH Grant and AmeriCorps Segal Award are available to reduce your program cost
• Resident Teachers may qualify for partial tuition cost forgiveness through FAFSA Loan Forgiveness depending on your chosen content area
