Eocc41 seeks a Resident Support Specialist to provide direct care to offenders, teaching daily living and social skills while maintaining a safe environment. The role includes planning activities, transporting offenders to various sites, and documenting daily progress.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license, with a rotating 24/7 schedule and opportunities for advancement. Health benefits and PTO are offered.
The primary purpose of the Resident Support Specialist position is to provide direct care to the offenders in the custody of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center; to provide them with a safe, secure, and healthy environment. This position involves teaching and counseling criminal offenders on daily living skills, personal hygiene, and social skills. Additionally, the Resident Support Specialist plans and facilitates group activities both on and off-site, transports offenders to and from activities, medical appointments, community service work sites, and employment sites. Finally, the Resident Support Specialist monitors the offender’s behavior, and all aspects of their daily living. This information is documented in the offender’s record.
EDUCATION & ABILITIES
The Resident Support Specialist must meet the following minimum educational and experience requirements:
i) A high school diploma or GED
ii) A valid motor vehicle operator’s license
OR
i) Education, training, and/or experience in an amount equal to the minimum qualifications as stated above.
ii) A valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
The successful candidate will work afixed-rotating shift schedule, cycling through theday, afternoon, and midnight shiftsweekly, requiring flexibility and adaptability to a 24/7 operational environment
