Job summary

SCO Family of Service is seeking a Counseling Specialist to join the Independence Inn V in Jamaica, NY. This full-time, on-site role provides quality care for residents, focusing on health, safety, and daily living routines, with opportunities to lead activities and counseling sessions.

You will maintain records, support treatment planning, and collaborate in weekly meetings to ensure consistent support for youth residents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required and at least three years of experience working with adolescents.
• Ability to work on-site and manage multiple residents.
• Strong communication and case-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care covering health, safety, clothing, hygiene, and meals.
• Plan and supervise individual and group activities.
• Conduct individual counseling sessions and participate in case conferences.
• Maintain residents' case records and progress notes every day.
• Coordinate medical appointments and verify documentation in resident files.
• Support ed/voc needs and family or legal issue discussions as needed.
