Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities is seeking a Resident Relations Specialist to serve as the primary contact for resident inquiries, coordinate events, and support daily community operations.

You will work closely with leasing and maintenance to deliver high-quality service, maintain records, and promote resident engagement, retention, and satisfaction across our properties.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, resident engagement, property administration, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and willingness to learn property management systems.
  • Professional, friendly, and solutions-oriented customer service approach.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a friendly, responsive resource for residents, addressing questions, concerns, and service issues professionally.
  • Provide support during move-ins, move-outs, and renewals to ensure a seamless resident lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate communication logs and follow up on resident concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assist in planning, promoting, and executing resident events, social activities, and community-building programs.
  • Distribute resident communications, including newsletters, announcements, and digital updates.
  • Promote amenities, services, and community resources that enhance resident experience.
  • Support package management, amenity reservations, and front-desk or lobby operations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure timely work order resolution and follow-up.
  • Maintain resident data and service records in property management software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, Entrata).
  • Build positive relationships with residents through consistent, high-quality service.
  • Identify recurring concerns or trends and elevate when necessary to onsite leadership.
  • Support resident retention efforts by fostering strong engagement and satisfaction.
  • Assist with preparation of resident notices, policy communications, and community updates.
  • Ensure resident interactions and communications follow Fair Housing, ADA requirements, and company policies.
  • Contribute to monthly reporting on resident satisfaction, engagement, and service metrics.

Job Description

The Resident Relations Specialist supports the overall resident experience by serving as a primary point of contact for resident inquiries, service needs, and community engagement. This role helps ensure smooth daily operations, strong resident relationships, and a positive living environment. This position partners closely with leasing, maintenance, and onsite leadership to deliver exceptional service and support resident satisfaction and retention.

Key Responsibilities
Resident Relations & Support
  • Serve as a friendly, responsive resource for residents, addressing questions, concerns, and service issues professionally.
  • Provide support during move-ins, move-outs, and renewals to ensure a seamless resident lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate communication logs and follow up on resident concerns in a timely manner.
Community Engagement & Events

Operations & Service Coordination

  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure timely work order resolution and follow-up.
  • Maintain resident data and service records in property management software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, Entrata).
Customer Service & Retention
  • Build positive relationships with residents through consistent, high-quality service.
  • Identify recurring concerns or trends and elevate when necessary to onsite leadership.
  • Support resident retention efforts by fostering strong engagement and satisfaction.
Administrative & Compliance Tasks
  • Assist with preparation of resident notices, policy communications, and community updates.
  • Ensure resident interactions and communications follow Fair Housing, ADA requirements, and company policies.
  • Contribute to monthly reporting on resident satisfaction, engagement, and service metrics.
