Job summary

HDR, Inc. invites you to join our Building Engineering Services Group as a Resident Project Representative I in Texas.

You will read drawings, track daily field activities, prepare pay estimates, and attend progress meetings to help deliver multi-disciplinary data center projects. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Engineering or Construction Technology, construction experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects.
• Fundamental understanding of contracts; familiarity with codes and laws.
• Must read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must be computer literate; experience with MS Office, Primavera, or related packages.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Active participant in our employee-owned culture.
• Sponsorship (visa) for US employment is not available now or in the future for this position.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts.
• Maintain accurate daily records of contractor activities, labor, equipment and materials.
• Review construction materials for contract compliance.
• Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance.
• Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings.
• Conduct observations of installation and acceptance testing of equipment and systems.
• Identify nonconforming work, develop punchlists and follow until corrected.
• Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance.
• Assist with project audit/closeout.
• Work under supervision of senior staff.
• Supervise and direct junior staff and inspectors.

In the role of Resident Project Representative I, we'll count on you to:

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
• Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor's daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials used
• Review construction materials for Contract compliance
• Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance
• Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings
• Conduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and systems
• Identify nonconforming work, develop project punchlists and maintain until corrected
• Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance
• Assist with project audit/closeout
• Work under general supervision of a more-senior Resident Project Representative or Design Project Manager
• Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Previous data center construction experience with an engineering or consulting firm
• Ability to read, interpret, and monitor construction schedules and project timelines
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and recommend practical solutions to the Engineer
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with contractors, clients, inspectors, and project team members
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively manage multiple priorities in a field environment
• Willingness and ability to travel and work onsite at client locations as required
