Job summary

HDR is seeking a Resident Project Representative to support water infrastructure projects in a role within the WaterBusiness Group. You will read and interpret drawings, track materials and quantities, and ensure contract compliance while coordinating with engineers and construction teams.

Preferred candidates hold a PE or CCM, have 5+ years multisector construction experience, and can interpret schedules. Sponsorship for US employment is not available for this position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years multidisciplinary construction experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • PE license or CCM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of contractor activities, labor, equipment and materials.
  • Review construction materials for contract compliance.
  • Track quantities and develop pay estimates.
  • Observe installation and acceptance testing of equipment and systems.
  • Identify nonconforming work and manage punch-lists to correction.
  • Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance.
  • Assist with project audit/closeout.
  • Manage complex water/wastewater contracts as owner representative.
  • Supervise junior Resident Project Representatives and subconsultants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

In the role of Resident Project Representative, we'll count on you to:

Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents

Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor’s daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials used for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines

Review construction materials for Contract compliance

Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance

Conduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and system

Identify nonconforming work, develop project punch-lists and maintain until corrected

Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance

Assist with project audit/closeout

Manage complex water/wastewater construction contracts as an owner representative

Work under general supervision of a more-senior Construction Manager or Project Manager

Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants

Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing

Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects

Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification

Previous construction experience with a consulting firm

Ability to interpret construction schedules

Able to problem solve and provide possible solutions to the engineer

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position
