Job summary

Alden Meadow Park Health Care Center in Wisconsin seeks an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Director in implementing the daily activity calendar, focusing on quality of life for each resident. The role requires empathy, teamwork, and the ability to engage residents with diverse needs.

You will coordinate events, document progress, and help with community outings while following policies and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year healthcare experience or related volunteering/experience.
• Knowledge of Federal and State activity regulations or ability to understand.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
• Be punctual and time efficient, especially with the activity calendar.
• Empathy, compassion and strong interpersonal skills to interact with residents, families and staff.
• Able to relate to ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset residents and hostile individuals.
• Ability to communicate with community, health professionals, organizations and providers.
• Understand and manage emotional needs of yourself and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide feedback to the Activity Director for monitoring goals.
• Lead a therapeutic, person-centered activity program and enhance residents’ quality of life.
• Follow all Activity Policies, Procedures and Federal/State regulations.
• Develop resident-centered activity plans based on individual backgrounds and needs.
• Ensure activities occur daily and reflect residents’ schedules, choices and rights.
• Coordinate communication needs of residents (language services, boards, etc.).
• Conduct and complete initial and ongoing assessments related to social, medical, cognitive, spiritual and physical needs.
• Document and maintain required activity records and progress notes.
• Update activity boards monthly with themed content.
• Facilitate community involvement and outings for residents.
• Work as a team with staff and volunteers; maintain schedule adherence.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; report needs and repairs promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
