Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center in Virginia is hiring a Group Counselor for our new inpatient detox and residential facility in North Chesterfield. You will lead group therapy, provide psychoeducation, and support clients on their recovery journey.

Work closely with clinical staff, document sessions, and ensure accurate client charts. A bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field, one year of treatment experience, and CSAC licensure are required; experience with recovery principles is valued.

• Minimum one year of experience in the treatment industry.
• CSAC licensure to practice as a clinician in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet client challenges and needs.
• Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools.
• Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress.
• Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted.
• Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or related field preferred
• Min. one year experience in treatment industry preferred
• Valid licensure necessary to practice as a clinician in this state- CSAC
• If in recovery, a minimum one-year period of sustained sobriety is required.
• Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills
• Strong presence and sound judgement
