Job summary

Banneker Management seeks a Leasing Specialist to steward the leasing process across our multifamily portfolio in Maryland. You will attract qualified residents, ensure compliant operations, and maintain precise documentation to deliver exceptional resident experiences.

The role balances leasing, regulatory compliance, customer service, and stewardship, supporting occupancy goals while collaborating with property management and corporate leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of multifamily leasing or property management experience.
• Experience with LIHTC, affordable housing, or mixed-income communities.
• Working knowledge of IRS Section 42 requirements.
• Experience managing documentation-intensive leasing processes.
• Experience with AppFolio, Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar software.
• Ability to travel among company properties.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete leasing lifecycle from inquiry through move-in, renewal, and recertification.
• Conduct professional property tours and clearly communicate community features, eligibility requirements, rents, and application procedures.
• Maintain strong prospect follow-up and leasing pipelines.
• Maintain 90%+ occupancy across the portfolio.
• Build relationships with housing agencies, nonprofit organizations, employers, voucher programs, and other referral partners.
• Maintain required compliance and accurate leasing documentation.
• Prepare leases, addenda, disclosures, certifications, and move-in documents on schedule.
• Coordinate move-ins with property management and maintenance teams.
• Conduct resident move-in orientations and process renewals, transfers, and annual recertifications.
• Maintain accurate resident information in the property management system.
