About the role

Techno is seeking a highly-skilled Resident Engineer to join our project team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring successful project delivery, maintaining safety standards, and providing technical leadership throughout all construction phases for NYCDEP water and wastewater infrastructure projects in various locations across all five boroughs of New York City.

What you'll do

  • Manage daily construction operations and resident engineering activities for distributed watermain projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Monitor contractor performance, schedules, and overall effectiveness to meet project goals related to cost, quality, and timelines.
  • Provide oversight of project scope, scheduling, contractor procedures, and the resolution of construction issues to deliver projects within budget and on time.
  • Serve as a key liaison between design staff and contractors, addressing RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and resolving field challenges.
  • Conduct technical reviews of construction plans, specifications, and project modifications to ensure constructability and practicality.
  • Administer contractor payment processes, reviewing and recommending adjustments when necessary.
  • Ensure overall site safety, compliance with permit conditions, and coordination with various stakeholders, including public agencies and private entities.
  • Communicate project updates, safety protocols, and scheduling details during construction meetings with clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead efforts to mitigate risks, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience managing construction projects of varying sizes and complexities, ranging from $5 million to $100 million+.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Familiarity with NYCDEP standards and requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in software tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Expedition, eBuilder, SharePoint, and MS Teams.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $121,146.35 - $192,687.56 per year.The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
