Job summary

HDR is seeking a Resident Engineer to join our Field Services team in the United States. You will apply engineering judgment to complex construction tasks, coordinate field activities, manage RFIs and submittals, and help ensure high-quality, on-schedule project delivery in infrastructure projects such as highways and bridges.

Preferred candidates have 10+ years in construction engineering, a PE or P.Eng license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
  • Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) recognized by licensing board in position location.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction engineering.
  • Local candidates preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, estimating & CPM scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex construction tasks, selecting and adapting engineering techniques.
  • Coordinate field activities, document, monitor costs, bid and schedule.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals and related data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In the role of Resident Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform complex construction assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard construction engineering techniques and procedures
  • Conduct project field coordination, documentation, cost monitoring, bidding and scheduling
  • Receive, issue and track RFIs, submittals and other required data
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in construction engineering
  • Local candidates preferred
  • CCM

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Estimating & CPM Scheduling Software, and web-based document collaboration software.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
