Mott MacDonald is looking for a talented Resident Engineer to join our ever-expanding construction management team in the New York City area.



The ideal candidate should possess substantial construction experience in the fit-out of large-scale CSO tank facilities, pump stations, and water treatment plants. This includes expertise in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, SCADA, systems engineering, and integration with existing facilities. Experience in systems startup testing and commissioning is essential. Project experience should range from $100M to $200M in construction costs.




Job responsibilities include:




  • Lead on-site delivery of construction management (CM) services, manage and supervise staff of CM professionals including Assistant Resident Engineers, Construction Field Office Engineers, Inspectors, and other CM professionals, as necessary.




  • Support construction safety implementation through understanding of safety requirements. Confirm construction contractor safety programs are submitted, approved, and followed by all parties involved in the project.




  • Implement schedule, cost, quality, communication, decision-making, and information tools and processes across the project.




  • Support program and project controls activities such as schedule control, cost control, change management, risk management, and reporting tools.




  • Lead project meetings with contractor and stakeholders.




  • Monitor the construction contract progress and prepare and process all necessary payment documents certifying the installed quantities.




  • Review, analyze, and negotiate construction cost estimates, change orders, and contractor claims.




  • Work to build a cooperative partnership between client, contractors, and all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project.




  • Responsible for the enforcement of contract documents including plans and specifications.




  • Understanding of start-up and commissioning plans and identify associated resources as necessary.




The successful candidate will require the following:




  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree.




  • 10+years of experience performing construction management in water/wastewater projects.




  • Registration: NYS PE (Required), CCM (Preferred).




  • OSHA safety training.




  • Proficiency in the use of computers to prepare reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.




  • Experience working for municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations, NYCDEP (preferred).




  • Ability to respond proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust and respond effectively to changes.




  • Valid Driver's license.




  • Required to work 100% at designated field locations.




  • Knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods and understanding of all facets of the construction process.




  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations, NYC local and national building codes and NYCDEP Procedures and Processes.




  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.




  • Working knowledge of construction management software packages (Primavera P6, eBuilder).

The expected salary for this position is $183,000 - $223,000


Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
