Qualifications

• Active NYS Professional Engineer license is required.
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil preferred) from an accredited college.
• Minimum of eight years of construction inspection/management experience on infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with NYCDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDEP specs, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
• Strong attention to detail; able to read and interpret drawings and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as DDC site representative for inspection, management, and administration of construction work.
• Review Contractor Site Safety Plan submittals for acceptability by DDC.
• Monitor site compliance with plans, permits, and regulations; address safety hazards.
• Direct remediation measures and ensure proper labor, materials, and supervision.
• Maintain daily logs, memos, letters, and accident reports; respond to inquiries.
• Review contractor progress schedules and recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee contractor payments, change orders, overruns, and claims.

Position Title: Resident EngineerLocation: Bronx, NY Job Type: Full-TimeSalary Range: $100.00 - $110.00Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pmPosition OverviewThe Resident Engineer is responsible for providing overall field oversight and administration of construction projects, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, plans, specifications, applicable codes, permits, and agency requirements. The role serves as the primary field representative, coordinating with contractors, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to monitor construction progress, quality, schedule, and safety. Responsibilities include supervising field personnel, reviewing contractor submittals and schedules, conducting site inspections, addressing deficiencies and safety hazards, maintaining detailed project documentation, administering payments and change orders, and supporting the resolution of construction issues. The Resident Engineer also coordinates critical construction activities and ensures timely corrective actions to facilitate successful project completion.Responsibilities:Serve as the DDC site representative responsible for the inspection, management, and administration of the construction work.Review and facilitate Contractor(s) Site Safety Plan submittals to DDC for acceptability.Monitor the conditions at the site for conformance with the Contractor’s Site Safety Plan, DDC policies, permits, and all applicable regulations and documentation that pertain to construction safety.Review sheet design submittal and installation.Notify the Contractor and DDC immediately upon determination of any condition or activity existing which is not in compliance with the Contractor’s Site Safety Plan, applicable federal, state or local codes or any condition that presents a potential risk of injury to the public or workers or possible damage to property. Direct the Contractor to provide such labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to remedy such conditions.Maintain documentation of and attend weekly safety meetings and daily safety job briefings.Review and evaluate contractors’ proposed progress schedule; monitor contractors’ conformance; and recommend corrective action should a deviation occur.Maintain an accurate and detailed daily log of all projects related activities; initiating the preparation of field memorandums, letters, and accident reports; replying to community inquiries and complaints; and preparing comprehensive reports as required.Maintain custody of all construction related permits, plans, approvals, drawings, etc., related to the project and assure their availability on site.Assure that Contractor(s) JHA’s are current to reflect the work tasks being performed, hazards, and control methods to mitigate the identified hazards.
