Job summary

TYLin, a global infrastructure firm, is seeking a Resident Engineer to lead construction management on Arizona projects from our Phoenix office. You will serve as the client and company representative on site, manage contractor work, and ensure compliance with plans and specifications while mentoring field staff.

The ideal candidate has a PE license and 8+ years in road/bridge construction, with proven ability to coordinate with clients, agencies, and subcontractors to resolve issues and keep

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field.
  • P.E. license required and at least 8+ years of experience with complex road and bridge construction.
  • Experience overseeing company and local agency staff and sub consultants; ability to work with clients to resolve issues.
  • Ability to write effective reviews, comments, and reports.
  • Able to work with Contractors and team to resolve field issues.
  • Preferred: previous construction management for ADOT projects.
  • Client-focused and innovative problem-solving.
  • High integrity and inclusive collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide written progress, technical and special issues reports as required.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for the different activities required for the project.
  • Review daily inspection reports, materials sampling and testing documentation for acceptance.
  • Work with the contractor on coordination of work.
  • Manage project documentation and assure contract compliance with contract requirements.
  • Perform independent analysis of other construction-related submittals and plans.
  • Negotiate, draft and review change orders
  • Review construction progress schedule and ensure projects are completed on schedule
  • Abide by and enforce construction safety rules and regulations.
  • Review contractor pay estimates and submittals.
  • Direct field inspection/support staff and train / mentor staff members on project / technical matters.
  • Conduct daily and weekly communication with Agency personnel and other senior staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Our Construction Management Services team is seeking a Resident Engineer to serve as a project lead/construction manager on various projects in Arizona. This position will be based out of our office in Phoenix, AZ and will be expected to work in various areas throughout Arizona. The Resident Engineer serves as the company and client representative at the work site, responsible for all construction work to ensure that the work performed by the contractor is in accordance with the plans and specifications. This individual is also responsible for managing company and local agency personnel

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field.
  • P.E. license required and at least 8+ years of experience with the concepts and practices with complex road and bridge construction, or proof of eligibility for reciprocity in the State of Arizona, at the time of appointment.
  • Must be experienced in oversight of company and local agency staff and sub consultants and have the ability to effectively and efficiently work with the clients to assist in the resolution of project issues.
  • Must be able to write effective and concise reviews comments, and reports.
  • Must be able to articulately work with Contractors and other team members to effectively resolve field issues.
  • Previous construction management experience for ADOT projects, or projects that had ADOT oversight, is a preferred.
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.

  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.

Additional Information

T.Y. Lin International is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $108,000-$162,000 annually for this position and local market.
