Resident Director (Full Time, Live‑in)
Holy Cross, a Jesuit liberal‑arts college in Worcester, Massachusetts, seeks a Resident Director (RD) to lead and nurture a residential community. The RD will oversee a team of Resident Assistants (RAs), manage campus housing operations, and serve as a first‑line resource for students during the academic year.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary resource for students and staff in assigned residence halls, addressing concerns such as college transition, academic and personal experiences, roommate conflicts, mental health issues, safety and emergency procedures, and policies.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate a resident‑staff team that may include RAs, Head Resident Assistants (HRAs), and other student office assistants.
- Lead weekly group staff meetings and one‑on‑one meetings with direct reports.
- Maintain residential facilities to be clean, safe, and conducive to study, ensuring proper upkeep and readiness.
- Serve on the campus on‑call rotation, responding to crises after hours and on weekends.
- Participate in and actively contribute to office and divisional initiatives such as RA training, hall opening/closing, housing selection, admitted student events, orientation, commencement, and other key campus activities.
- Represent the Office of Residence Life & Housing on various committees.
- Act as the Community Standards Officer for cases within the RD’s area, taking additional cases as needed to balance workload.
- Facilitate CHOICES programming and promote awareness, inclusion, and appreciation of cultural and lifestyle differences.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the college.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of leadership experience in residence life or related student‑facing departments.
- Self‑directed, organized, and enthusiastic about working with students.
- Strong administrative skills and experience in residence life communities and educational programming.
- Understanding of Jesuit liberal‑arts values and mission.
- Demonstrated competencies in intercultural, diversity, and inclusion efforts, with a commitment to serving diverse populations.
Compensation and Schedule
- Salary: $46,500 annually.
- Start date: July 6, 2026.
- Weekly hours: 40.
- Employment type: Full time, twelve‑month, live‑in position.
