Gordon State College in Barnesville, GA seeks a live‑in Resident Director to oversee a residential hall, ensure a safe and inclusive environment, and supervise student staff. The RD will implement educational initiatives, respond to student needs, and coordinate programs with campus partners to support learning outcomes.
The role requires on‑campus living, availability for non‑traditional hours, and strong knowledge of housing policies, student conduct, and facilities operations.

The Resident Director (RD) is a live‑in professional responsible for the comprehensive management, leadership, and daily operations of an assigned residence hall. This position ensures a safe, inclusive, academically supportive, and well‑maintained residential environment by supervising student staff, administering policies, coordinating educational initiatives, and responding to student needs. The RD also plays a key role in community development, crisis response, and departmental programming.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of an associate’s degree.
Experience sufficient to understand the work of subordinate roles and to resolve issues, typically gained through three years of related experience or service.
The role requires living on campus and being available during non‑traditional hours.
Knowledge of Housing and Residence Life policies, processes, and best practices.
Knowledge of student conduct procedures and conflict resolution methods.
Understanding of residential building operations, maintenance timelines, and facility safety standards.
Skill in delegating responsibilities and supervising student staff.
Proficiency with computer systems, housing software, and job‑related applications.
Strong decision‑making, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Skill in interpersonal communication, relationship building, and customer service.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
