Job summary

North Carolina State Veterans Home is seeking a Dietary Aide/Cook to assist in preparing meals that meet nutritional guidelines for residents. You will collaborate with the Food Service/Dietary Manager to ensure foods are served at proper temperatures and times, while following state and federal regulations.

The role requires assisting with meal prep, serving nourishments, storing food safely, and maintaining cleanliness and records. Prior long-term care food production experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum education to demonstrate functional literacy.
• Ability to read and follow recipes, guidelines and safety procedures.
• Adaptability to long-term care dietary needs and resident preferences.

Responsibilities

• Assist cook in meal preparation, including salads, desserts and snacks for residents.
• Serve nourishments and assist with tray delivery and portion control.
• Store leftovers properly and follow food handling and sanitation procedures.
• Record temperatures and maintain food safety logs per guidelines.
• Assist with stocking, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas.
