Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to lead a dedicated kitchen team at the South Mountain Restoration Center. You will oversee meal preparation, ensure dietary requirements are met, and maintain daily operations to support residents’ well-being.

The role involves swing shifts, full-time hours (37.5 per week), rotating weekends/holidays, and no telework option.

Qualifications

• Two years as a Food Service Worker or production experience with an Associate degree in food production/food service.
• Three years of paid experience in food production or service plus a Certified Dietary Manager course.
• Any equivalent combination of experience in institutional settings preparing specialized diets or related coursework.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee food preparation, service, inventory control, and sanitation across assigned areas.
• Assign tasks, evaluate performance, and provide training to food service workers and cooks.
• Ensure meals meet dietary requirements, follow recipes, and are served at proper temperatures.
• Review staffing needs, set priorities, and develop and maintain schedules.
• Requisition, receive, store, and track food, supplies, and equipment to meet operational needs.
• Address employee concerns, participate in meetings, and support a positive working environment.
