Job summary

State of Wisconsin’s Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove is seeking a Resident Care Supervisor. The role supervises CNAs, supports active treatment plans for residents with IDD, and coaches staff in treatment program implementation.

A CNA license is required within one year of hire, with strong leadership and Microsoft Office skills preferred. Salary starts between $36.37 and $37.17 per hour, plus excellent benefits.

Job description

We are hiring for Second shift (2:45 PM - 11:15 PM) or Third shift (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM). All shifts are required to work every other weekend. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies on all three shifts.

SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD). Position Summary

As an RCS, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising, coaching and developing the skills of Certified Nursing Assistants( CNAs) of all levels.
  • Participating in the development and daily implementation of Active Treatment Plans for residents.
  • Coaching staff in the implementation of treatment programs designed by an interdisciplinary treatment team, monitoring residents' progress, and participating as a member in the team planning and review process.

Selected candidate must obtain and maintain CNA licensure within one year of entering this position.

We are looking for individuals that can multi-task the dynamic workload at SWC.

Salary Information

The starting salary is between $36.37 and $37.17 per hour (approximately between $75,600 and $77,300 per year), depending on experience, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

P ay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. The Resident Care Supervisor is in pay schedule and range 81/04.

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and balancing. Applicants will be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:

  • Experience as a caregiver or CNA providing active treatment, care, and ensuring safety for residents or clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Examples of active treatment include:
  • Interaction and relationship building with residents
  • Engagement of activities based on individual resident interests
  • Engagement in life routines
  • Experience in a leadership role performing tasks such as coaching, mentoring, guidance and/or training to other staff, etc.
  • Experiencing using Microsoft Office to perform tasks such as emailing and typing correspondence, record keeping, entering and verifying data, etc.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in a formal supervisory role performing tasks such as providing performance evaluations, resolving conflict, assign/reviewing work of subordinates, scheduling, interviewing, recommending hiring of staff, etc.
  • Experience working with Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience participating in quality and/or service improvement initiatives.
