Job description

POSITION TITLE: Resident Care Specialist

REPORTS TO:

Director of Resident Care and Service Coordination

PURPOSE:

To assist the Director of Resident Care and Service Coordination in providing exceptional quality care for the elderly residents suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. To uphold the highest level of competency, knowledge, and caring that distinguishes the Rubin Home Assisted Living from other facilities.

STATUS:

Hourly / Non-Exempt

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Valid Massachusetts CNA, HHA, or higher certification preferred.
  2. Good communication skills.
  3. Ability to interact with residents respectfully and with dignity.
  4. Ability to multitask and respond professionally to various situations.
  5. Complete a 3-day orientation on Assisted Living and other topics as per EOEA’s Assisted Living Regulation 651CMR section 12.07.
  6. Complete a minimum of 15 hours of ongoing education annually.
GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Frequent bending.
  • Sitting or standing stationary for periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Tolerance for walking on cement and carpeted floors.
  • Annual physical exam and negative Mantoux test or chest X-ray.
  • Ability to climb stairs easily and frequently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Report significant changes in residents' mental or physical status to the supervisor.
  2. Perform hourly safety checks.
  3. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) as per individual care plans.
  4. Document resident care following facility and EOEA guidelines.
  5. Assist residents with Self-Administered Medication Management (SAMM).
  6. Prepare and serve meals aligned with dietary restrictions and ensure resident satisfaction.
  7. Handle laundry with care and accuracy.
  8. Perform daily cleaning of the facility, including kitchens, bathrooms, and floors, ensuring odors are controlled.
  9. Stock resident rooms and kitchen supplies, noting low inventory.
  10. Answer phone calls professionally, relaying messages appropriately.
  11. The overnight Resident Care Specialist position is an awake position, requiring constant wakefulness during the shift.
