Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Experience as cook in a large-scale operation is a plus but not required.
• Experience in long term care is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meal items according to planned menus and recipes.
• Reviews menus, census info, and production guides to determine quantities.
• Prepares food under safety guidelines and company policies.
• Assists with food ordering, storage and prep as directed.
• Maintains standards for food preparation and quality.
• Operates kitchen equipment and prepares various cooking methods.
• Prepares consistency modified and diet foods as needed.
• Completes pre-preparation tasks like washing and chopping vegetables.
• Prepares and serves food attractively and tests palatability.
• Monitors and records food temperatures prior to service.
• Makes menu changes under supervision; refers to dietitian for approval.
• Uses proper hand washing, correct temperature checks, and sanitation.
• Cleans equipment and work areas; follows cleaning schedules.
• Assumes responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
