Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a kitchen assistant to support meal preparation, service, and cleanup in a nursing center dining room. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, attractive dining area and ensuring meals are served on schedule.

Responsibilities include assisting cooks, preparing nourishments, labeling items, following production sheets, and performing routine kitchen cleaning and equipment care to support a high standard of resident nutrition and service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of experience in a large-scale cooking operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with food ordering, storage and preparation as designated by the supervisor.
• Assists cooks as directed by the supervisor.
• Prepares and labels nourishments according to center procedures.
• Prepares and portions desserts, salads and other non-entered foods into dishes; pours beverages.
• Follows production sheets and pre-preparation sheets or guidelines when appropriate.
• Completes pre-preparation as needed including washing, peeling and cutting vegetables and fruits to prepare for use; slices meat and weighs for menu compliance and nutrition accuracy.
• Follows the cleaning schedule; cleans equipment and work area after each use; sweeps and mops kitchen floors; takes trash to dumpster; washes pots and pans.
• Assumes responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
• Washes dishes and silverware; puts clean dishes away; assists with cleaning of equipment and kitchen.
• Assists in preparation of food items and tray lines; works on meal tray serving line; sets up before start of meal service; breaks down area and cleans up after serving line.
