Job summary

Trinity Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Pasadena, TX is seeking a compassionate Resident Attendant to assist seniors with daily living tasks, transfers, meal service, and personal care in a respectful, kind environment.

You will be required to lift up to 40 pounds, follow the resident care plan, respond to calls, help with laundry and housekeeping on night shifts as needed, attend training sessions, and collaborate with the Director and nursing staff to ensure safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Residents in activities of daily living per individual care plan (e.g., showering, dressing, hygiene, transfers).
  • Motivate Residents to be independent while providing needed assistance.
  • Deliver trays and ensure meals served in rooms meet quality and temperature expectations.
  • Serve meals in the dining room and assist during dining; respond to Residents’ needs.
  • Answer call system and respond to emergencies.
  • Make up Residents’ beds; assist with activities, especially evenings and weekends.
  • Report safety hazards to Supervisor promptly.
  • Night shift duties include laundry and housekeeping as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Director of Resident Services and Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS: A candidate for Resident Attendant must possess exemplary work ethics and the ability to assist and interact with seniors in a caring, kind, and respectful manner. A Resident Attendant must possess good verbal communication skills and the ability to speak, read and write English to the degree that allows for understanding and being understood by typical Residents. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 40 pounds, move about the facility quickly, and physically assist Residents daily and in the event of an emergency.

Requirements
  • Assist Residents in activities of daily living, i.e., provide showering and dressing assistance, personal hygiene and grooming assistance, transfer assistance, escort assistance, daily reminders, etc. as per the individual Resident’s Care Plan. Maintain proper documentation of assistance provided.
  • Motivate and encourage Residents to be as independent as possible, while still providing any needed assistance, always treating Residents with kindness, respect, and dignity.
  • Motivate and encourage Residents to come to activities and meals.
  • Deliver trays to rooms when instructed to do so, assuring that meals served in rooms are as near as possible to the same quality as meals served in the dining room, i.e., proper tray settings with utensils and condiments, trays delivered promptly so as to best assure proper temperatures, etc.
  • Serve meals to Residents in the dining room. Assist Residents with known routine needs during dining and observe Residents in order to assist with needs that might arise during dining. Assure that meal service is enjoyable through attentive and prompt service to tables.
  • Answer Resident call system to assist Residents with their needs. Respond to emergency needs appropriately.
  • Make up Residents’ beds daily, according to assigned rooms of care.
  • Assist as instructed with activities, especially during evening hours and on weekends.
  • Be observant and aware of any situation or occurrence in the facility that may pose a safety hazard to Residents or staff. Report such observation immediately to Supervisor.
  • Night shift Resident Attendants have the additional responsibilities of the facility and any Resident laundry and housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Director.
  • Attend all meetings and in-services as requested by the Director.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as may, from time-to-time, be requested by the Director.
  • Be available to work at times, days, or positions other than those scheduled as requested by the Director.
