Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Cincinnati is seeking a Resident Assistant/PCA to provide quality care and support with daily living activities for residents in our community.

You will assist with ADLs, monitor resident well-being, coordinate with nursing staff, and help maintain a safe, respectful living environment. A valid PCA program completion and CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days are required. Flexible scheduling including weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Successfully completed an approved Personal Care Aide (PCA) program per state regulations.
• Effective communication, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with the nursing team and staff.

Job Description

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community.

Responsibilities

• Reports incidents involving residents, including care concerns or issues, to the appropriate individuals (e.g., HCD, RN/LPN, or ED).
• Maintains a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Performs housekeeping duties, including making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining rooms, and other assigned areas.
• Responds promptly to all resident calls for assistance and emergency alerts.
• Remains calm and competent during emergency situations.
• Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Follows all confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
• Assists residents to and from the dining room and scheduled activities.
• Conducts regular resident checks and ensures residents attend meals and activities.
• Checks on residents who are ill and reports their status or concerns to the appropriate individuals.
• Communicates verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.
• Assists new residents with the move-in transition by providing emotional support and helping them feel comfortable in their new environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have successfully completed an approved Personal Care Aide (PCA) program in accordance with state regulations, as applicable.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work collaboratively with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow the instructions of the supervisor.
• Must be polite, respectful, and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or carry up to 25 lbs.
• Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
• Must wear the designated uniform during working hours, including a name badge.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
• Must represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
• Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
